Teaching literacy skills in an explicit and fun way provides an ideal start to school. The first year of school is vital to future success. In this session Maureen will discuss a multi-sensory approach to learning literacy for children 4 6 years. The teacher is always the best resource in any school so learn how your skills can enhance this evidence-based program increase students abilities to read, write and spell with confidence. During this practical seminar Maureen will demonstrate phonemic awareness strategies woven into every aspect of the program.

Maureen Pollard and Helen Kirkland
Maureen Pollard is a teacher, literacy consultant and publisher. Her publications include the Little Learners Love Literacy series, SoundCheck, Making Words and the Sylvester Syllable Game. She has helped many schools develop literacy programs which include phonemic awareness and phonics in a language rich environment. Her passion is to ensure that children are taught literacy skills in a fun, focused, fast paced teaching style.
Helen Kirkland is convenor of Education Support at Tintern Girls Junior School. Her broad experience in both secondary and primary schools gives her a deep understanding of practical approaches to teaching literacy skills in the early years.

Cancellations made up to seven days prior to the seminar will receive a full refund. Cancellations less than seven days prior to the seminar will be charged full seminar fee.
